The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch is a must read.  It is a reflection on the life of the author, a terminally ill computer science professor. It is a lesson in humor, hope and inspiration.

The May 14, 2007 issue of TIME magazine features an article that focuses on New York City’s drop-out rates. Stopping the Exodus explains how the city is trying new methods to keep kids in school with much success.

Why do quiet teens become killers? What is it about these quiet communities that may contribute to school shootings?  These questions and more are answered in Katherine Newman’s book Rampage, 371.7 N553r 2005, currently on the “New Book Shelf” at the Miller Library.

Autism is the focus of TIME magazine’s May 15, 1006 issue. There are many mysteries within the world of autism and many new ways to communicate with these special children.

The November 28, 2005 issue of New York magazine has an eye-opening article entitled “Cracking the Kindergarten Code”. It is actually a set of guidelines for getting your child admitted into the private kindergarten of your choice. Apparently this is not an easy task or something that should be taken lightly. The competition is stiff and the stakes are high.
