Current Issues and Political Databases Available Until 2/8/2007

The Miller Library currently has trial access to CQ Researcher Online and CQ Weekly.

  • CQ Researcher Online offers “in-depth, non-biased coverage of today’s important issues” exploring a ”single “hot” issue in the news in  depth each week.”

  • CQ Weekly offers the latest news, amendments, actions and discussions from Capital Hill.

Sports Database Trial: SPORTDiscus

SPORTDiscus is available on a trial basis until 6/30/06, so try it out.


Provided by the Sport Information Resource Centre, SPORTDiscus offers comprehensive, bibliographic coverage of sport, fitness, coaching, tourism and related disciplines. This database contains over 650,000 records with journal and monograph coverage going back to 1800; over 20,000 dissertations and theses and reference to articles in 60 different languages. Biology Database Trial

We have access to the BioOne database, a “unique aggregation of high-impact bioscience research journals” until April 30th. If you are researching a topic in the sciences, check it out at http://www.bioone.org.

This database is only available on campus.

Database Trial: Project Muse

Trial access to the Project Muse database will be available until March 31st. Project Muse offers 100% full-text access to over 300 peer-reviewed journals in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

The Library has set up a trial to a Biology database—BIOSCIENCEnetBASE–and we are looking for feedback. Take a second to try it out and cast your vote to let us know if the database should be considered for purchase.

BIOSCIENCEnetBASE is a new collection of handbooks, reviews and research volumes from microbiologists, geneticists, biomedical engineers, health professionals and researchers.

Database Trial - Vote by Friday, October 14th

The Library has set up a trial to an Environmental Science database—ENVIROnetBASE—and we are looking for feedback. Take a second to try it out and cast your vote to let us know if the database should be considered for purchase.

ENVIROnetBASE is a collection of more than 150 handbooks that cover properties and processes associated with the air, water, soils and biosphere. The handbooks can be searched or browsed individually or selectively. Output can be sorted by relevancy, frequency of hits, size of documents, or date.

Database Trial: Information Technology

From September 9th through 20th, we have free access to two databases in the Information Technology area: Faulkner’s Advisory for IT Studies (FAITS) and Faulkner’s Security Management Practices. Both are available for campus testing and use. I encourage everyone to take a look at the databases, and let us know what you think. To access,

  • Go to the Faulkner Library webpage

  • Click on “Returning Subscribers enter here.”

  • Enter “keystone” as the username and password.

  • Choose FAITS or the Security Management Practices database and run a few searches.
