We visited the senior center today and it was the highlight of the trip so far.  The seniors were awesome and fun.  I was impressed at how this culture uses physical touching.  It is not unusual for a director or aide to intimately touch another on the hair, the arm, the leg…  These touches are welcomed and accepted not rejected.  In our culture, we have been taught not to touch others but look what that has done; we are now afraid to touch for fear of arrest.

This is a passionate culture.  Everything is said or done with zest.  One “no” won’t do, it must be said twice, “no, no!”    This is a very warm culture; if you speak to someone to five minutes and share any personal information, you hug and kiss as though you are family.
