Puerto Rico - Day 3 by Doslah Nah

May 27th, 2014 · No Comments

Our day started with a 7:00 wake-up call as we were heading to the Caribbean Sea to swim and kill time before we had to check out later on in the day. The beach was beautiful as well as the surrounding scenery. We tanned and swam for about an hour and forty five, then loaded up the van to make our way back to the hotel in Ponce. We arrived at the hotel packed our belongings, and then hit the showers. We then headed downstairs to have brunch as a unit. We were presented with a beautiful spread which included eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, cereal etc. After a lovely brunch, we loaded up the van and began our departure to Luquillo. Along the way we made a few pit stops, and one of the most memorable stops we made was to a local hut which sold soda and snacks. It was memorable because of the nice people that greeted us along with all the wild dogs and cats we saw and interacted with. We finally arrived at our condos in Luquillo. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. We unloaded the van and got accustomed to our new and wonderful living conditions. As a unit, we then traveled to the nearby Walgreens to pick up supplies for our dinner. We then ate great food that was prepared for us by Mrs. Avila’s cousin. We ate hot dogs, hamburgers, meat skewers, and various salads. After a little while, we were accompanied by a criminal justice guest speaker who was very entertaining, and informative. She was a U.S Marshall and also a relative of Mrs. Avila. She spoke to us about her restrictions and her responsibilities. One of the things that suck out to me is that she was not able to intervene like a cop as she is only considered an officer of the courts. She also showed us her badge and standard fire arm along with her cuffs. After the guest speaker we played cards for a while then went to bed; and that is the end of our day three.
